A Babe Behind The Babe: An Interview With Amanda

A Babe Behind The Babe: An Interview With Amanda

Nevermind laughter; hypnotism is contagious.

The last time I caught myself really struck by another museum-goer was a few months ago, at the MET in New York. There was someone in standing so still in front of Giovanni Battista Tiepolo’s The Triumph of Marius that I myself was stuck in a competing stupor.

Her motionless concentration was as beautiful as the museum’s own four-corned majesty. Her name was Amanda and she was at the museum doing research for her latest novel.

Months had passed and echoes from our random encounter remained as vivid as ever. To quench our curiosity, we decided to track Amanda down, ask her a few questions about who she really is, in order to trade in our ephemeral hypnosis for a more permanent attraction.

Meagan Morrison Met Museum NYC Joel Shapiro & Ellsworth Kelly

I didn’t know it would be my dream to sandwich a babe between two works of art until it actually happened. Such an occasion presented itself when meeting fashion illustrator Meagan Morrison at the MET Museum as she was spotted in front of Ellsworth Kelly’s “Blue Panel” painting and behind Joel Shapiro’s untitled, beaming red sculpture. Chloe is from Kentucky and has some of the most pop-up, hyperlinked style I’ve seen in ages at the Met Museum. Here’s one of our many fun time photos. (photo by Xavier Aaronson)

Please tell me we’re in a museum and not some fat cat’s garish living room because I absolutely need to post this photo. Luckily, we’re at the Met, so it counts.

To be honest, this is getting embarrassing. Yet another lens crush on a girl plucked straight out of charm-ville. I hope I never see Alexandra again. It’ll save me the embarrassing spectacle of nervousness.

I’ve always loved the bleary eyed look on girls. It tells me they’re pooped from doing lots of awesome things but that they’re holding it together and down for whatever’s next. At the museum, even though I’m just walking around, slowness can be exhausting. Yana here has that syrupy look that hints that she would do it all over again, but perhaps only after a stiff drink. I like Yana and I’ve also heard she’s damn good photographer. (photo by Alex Serio)

You know when you smoke a bunch of weed and go by the Between The Still and Moving Image installation at the Whitney Museum and there’s this unexpected beauty just waiting for you to take their photo? That’s pretty much what happened here with Brooke. (photo by @it_smells_dead)

Work makes you too busy to worry about how you look while doing it. And being unaware of your charming ways has to be the most babe move that’s ever been pulled. Here’s Marissa making the come-hither spell look easy while she juggles tasks from behind the front desk of the Whitney Museum. Spotting a babe in rest mode proves that museums can be tiring and that perhaps more seating is necessary. The special thing about this encounter at the Met was her classic and unassuming outfit: all white everything with a splash of pink in the foot area.  Meagan is a fashion illustrator based in NYC and working on a line of illustrated scarves and handbags. She likes macarons and her tiny West Village apartment. Check out some of her illustrations here. (photos by Xavier Aaronson)
